Privacy policy

Overview

Scriblyx records, transcribes and summarizes audio entirely on your own devices. We do not run servers that receive your recordings, and we do not collect, sell or share your personal data.

This policy covers the Scriblyx apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch. It explains what the app handles, where that data lives, and how you control it.

Information Scriblyx handles

Scriblyx creates and stores the following on your devices. None of it is sent to us.

  • Audio recordings: sound from your microphone and, on Mac, from other apps (such as the other side of a call).
  • Transcripts: the text of each recording, with timestamps and optional speaker labels.
  • Speaker names: names you give to speakers in a transcript.
  • Summaries and action items: overviews, key points and tasks generated from a transcript, plus any edits you make.
  • Recording details: title, date, length, language, processing status and which of your devices made the recording.
  • Settings: your choices, such as transcription engine and language, stored locally.
  • Device identifier: a random ID created on each install so your devices can tell which one is processing a recording. It is not linked to you and is never sent to us.

Scriblyx has no account system and does not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, advertising identifiers or usage analytics.

How recordings are processed

Every step of processing happens on your device. Your audio and transcripts are never uploaded for transcription or AI processing.

  • Transcription uses Apple's on-device speech recognition or the open-source Whisper model running locally.
  • Speaker labeling uses a speaker-recognition model running locally.
  • Summaries and action items are generated by Apple's on-device Foundation Models.
  • Translation of a transcript or summary uses Apple's on-device Translation framework.
  • Apple Watch recordings are sent directly from your watch to your paired iPhone, which does the processing.

The first time you choose Whisper or speaker labeling, Scriblyx downloads the model files from Hugging Face, where they are hosted. The download contains no recordings or personal content, but like any web request it reveals your IP address to the host. Apple may also download language and translation assets to your device; Apple's privacy policy covers those downloads.

Storage and iCloud sync

Your library is stored on your device and, if you are signed in to iCloud, synced to your own private iCloud account. We cannot access it.

  • Recording details, transcripts, summaries and action items sync through your private CloudKit database.
  • Audio files are stored in the app's iCloud Drive container so your other devices can play them.

Apple operates iCloud, and Apple's Privacy Policy governs that storage. If you are not signed in to iCloud, or you turn off iCloud for Scriblyx in Settings, your data stays on the device only.

Permissions

Scriblyx asks only for the permissions it needs to record. You can change them at any time in your device's Settings.

  • Microphone (iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch): to record audio for transcription.
  • System audio recording (Mac): to capture the other side of a call so the whole meeting is transcribed.
  • Files you choose (Mac): to import or save files you explicitly select.

It is your responsibility to get consent from other people before you record them where the law requires it.

Third-party services

Scriblyx contains no advertising, analytics, tracking or crash-reporting SDKs, and it does not track you across apps or websites.

The only outside services involved are:

  • Apple — iCloud sync, on-device speech, language and translation assets, and App Store distribution.
  • Hugging Face — hosting of the Whisper and speaker-labeling model files, downloaded only when you turn those features on.

If Apple shares crash reports or usage statistics with developers because you opted in on your device, we receive them in anonymized form through Apple.

Data retention and deletion

Your recordings are kept until you delete them. Because we hold no copy, deletion is entirely in your hands.

  • Deleting a recording in Scriblyx removes its audio, transcript, summary and action items from the device and from your iCloud on all synced devices.
  • Downloaded models can be removed in the app's settings.
  • Deleting the app removes its local data; data in iCloud can be removed under Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Storage.

Children

Scriblyx is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Because we do not collect or hold your personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on your behalf. You keep full control of your data on your devices and in iCloud.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, the changes will be posted on the App Store listing and/or in the app, and the date at the top will change. Continuing to use Scriblyx after an update means you accept the revised policy.
